10 Tips for Business Owners

10 Tips for Business Owners

One of my senior school teachers said I’d never make anything of myself.

Let’s say back then; I wasn’t the academic type.

The words of the teacher have been my driving force ever since!

After leaving school, I qualified as a golf professional.  Shortly after qualifying, I picked up a career-ending knee injury at 23.

I started my first business when I was 25 and sold it to Private Equity when I was 36.  I also have Scaled and Sold Businesses up to £30m+ revenue.

Let me tell you. It wasn’t all plain sailing. I lost everything in the 2008 crash and have had to rebuild twice from the bottom up.

If I can do it, anybody can.

“A quitter never Wins, And A Winner never Quits”!

Thirteen years ago, I returned to one of the businesses I had sold a few years prior. The business was experiencing a significant downturn, and the new owners needed help.

I agreed and returned to the business as a consultant.

Most of the challenges were easy to fix and reverse the downward trend. Some, however, were not so easy.

I engaged with a Mentor and business coach to help me with the challenges I hadn’t experienced before. Little did I know it was going to be a life-changing experience.

My passion for learning has grown by the day.  I finally found a subject I loved, was passionate about and knew I could make a difference with my newfound skillsets.

Using my 30 years of experience, most of my time is now spent coaching other business owners.

I am passionate about helping business owners scale their businesses, whilst improving all key metrics as we do it.

I also help turn failing businesses into successful enterprises.

10 key tips for business owners

  1. Start with the end in mind (What’s your exit strategy)

  3. Goal Set like your life depends on it.  It kind of does!
  4. Plan like a Pro.
  5. Execute your plans like the SAS or Navy Seals. (Depending on where you are from).
  6. Stay Consistent. Every Day turn up with your A-Game.
  7. Be Accountable, if you Screw up own it. The same goes for your team.
  8. Make time for yourself, Physically and Mentally.
  9. Learn Daily.
  10. Help as many people as possible without expecting to receive something in return.

One book I would highly recommend.

Everybody should read or listen to “You can’t hurt me” by David Goggins. The language is raw and brutal (If you are easily offended, think twice, but it might be what you need).
